Grab your bikes and get ready for 29.2 miles of fun through three counties of Polk, Lake and Sumter. The General James A Van Fleet State Trail attracts cyclist from all around to enjoy the rural ride on a former railroad. This rail trail is very remote and runs through the Green Swamp.
This trail only has one curve! It's a very long and strait path to view river swamp, pine trees, former orange grooves and cattle ranches.
 
View some of Florida's greatest wildlife while walking, rollerblading, cycling, bike riding or inline skating the trail. Gopher tortoises are very commonly seen crossing the bike trails. See some of Florida's cattle land at the Richloam Wildlife Management Area and the Withlacoochee State Forest.

Located close to Davenport Florida is the 6 mile off road path that circles around the heart of downtown Kissimmee. This trail connects residential neighborhoods, Downtown Kissimmee, Medical Arts District and the Shingle Creek Regional Trail.
Enjoy walking or riding along the canals, tree lined pathways, forest covered trails and the John Young Parkway Pedestrian bridge.
The City of Kissimmee is working on building an expansive trail system for walkers, bikers and runners. This trail will feature paths through urban core of Kissimmee to natural surroundings.  The two main off street paved trails near Davenport Florida in Kissimmee are the Kissimmee Loop Trail and the Shingle Creek Regional Trail.
Shingle Creek Regional Park - Steffee Landing

Shingle Creek Regional Trail: Pine Island East
Orlando, FL
This little known gem is great for biking on the four miles of power line dirt roads linking the Middle School Trail to the Hunters Vista subdivision.
Enjoy 3 miles of hiking trails located within the east and west pine islands. Pack a lunch for the picnic shelter with tables at the east pine island.
View wildlife like white tailed deer, alligators, birds and turkeys. Fishing is allowed and there is a small primative canoe launch at the Hunter's Creek Middle School access.

TECO Auburndale Trail
Auburndale, FL
This trail connects with the General James A. Van Fleet Trail and brings together Lake Myrtle in Auburndale with Polk City. Enjoy an observation area to watch nature at the end of the trail.

Disney Wilderness Preserve
Poinciana, FL
Visit this great wilderness preserve located near Davenport Florida and view wildlife in the wide open fields and nature scenery. There are two trails to choose from and you may want to bring Hiking Boots! This preserve adventure offers a peaceful place to hike for hours on long trails. Sometimes there is a ranger on duty and you can use the onsite bathrooms that are pretty well taken care of. Visit the small building that features a small natural history museum with old literature and animal information. You can enjoy some short hikes to Lake Russel that is about a mile long.

When you are visiting Davenport Florida check out this nice small park that offers a field, walking areas and water fountains.  There are a few gazebos and two restrooms that are sometimes unlocked. This park is safe for kids to spend the day playing but we recommend bringing your own drinks or water.

 

This park is free and kids love when the occasional train passes by the Davenport park.
