March 12, 2020 Walt Disney World Announces Temporary Closure of Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks beginning March 16, 2020 until the end of the month of March until further notice. Walt Disney World Operations is using an abundance of caution when dealing with Coronavirus at Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios or any Walt Disney World Resort Theme Park. They have stated that this is in the best interest of their guest and cast members to close the theme parks.
 
The good news for those employed by the mouse? The Walt Disney Company will pay its Cast Members during that Coronavirus closure period.

Walt Disney World Resorts will remain open until further notice as well as the ever popular shopping and dinning destination called Disney Springs. The former name for Disney Springs was Downtown Disney where thousands gather for events and concerts at House of Blues.

Disney has said they will continue to stay in close contact with the appropriate officials and health experts. They will be working as Cas possible to provide guest with information on impacts to existing and future reservations during the time period.
