If you are visiting Davenport Florida on vacation or if you live in the area then you might have seen a digital road sign on the side of the road provided by Polk County Sheriffs Department advising people to lock your doors or become victim to theft.
Recent reports show a rise in theft by people flipping car handles at night looking for vehicles that are unlocked. They stroll through subdivisions and can hit 20 to 30 cars in one neighborhood depending on how many cars are unlocked. Criminals are looking to steal cash, sunglasses, electronics, wallets or anything of value. Sheriffs are asking visitors and residents to always lock your vehicle especially at night so that you don't become a statistic.
